Hulu Advertisements
In the past few years it has become a common thing for people to watch television shows online. I know that I myself always catch up on my favorite shows using sites such as Hulu or even watch shows directly on abc.com or mtv.com. This is brought up in a lot of my classes and often the question is asked if advertising is effected. In my personal opinion, I watch advertisements more on these sites than when I'm watching actual cable. The reason for this is because these sites make you watch the ads before letting you view the next segment of the show. When commercials come on when I'm watching t.v I have the freedom to flip channels until those commercials are over but this isn't possible with online viewing. What do you guys think? Do you think these internet sites which you can watch shows on affects television advertisements?

Although, we are forced to watch the ads these websties display between scenes of the show, it does not mean I am enjoying the ads at all. Usually I will mute my computer until the next scene of the show is on. I believe television commercials are much more superior than internets ads.
ReplyDeleteI believe that I watch fewer commercials when watching shows on the internet rather than on television. When internet advertisements come on I either, mute the commercial and open a new window to do something else or just walk away from the computer. I do this because you can rewind the video on the internet, but you can't do that when watching shows on television.
ReplyDeleteHulu allows companies to effectively advertise to their target market. I do not mind them too much because sometimes there might be something I would like to see. Besides, you can always go to another website until your show starts lol.
ReplyDeleteWell, just like flipping channels you can flip websites until the ad is over or thats when you wish the video had the skip advertisment option. I think advertisements are annoying and to in your face. Consumers are constantly plague with advertising print, mobile, internet, television, radio...Advertising is like America's sickness that won't go away
