I think billboards should be left in the pass for several reasons. First, billboards are effective for a very very short amount of time and that is if you even noticed the billboard at all when driving by. If I drove by a billboard that caught my eye it may intrigue me for a few seconds but unless your going slow enough there's no possible way you can write down a number or take in the whole message the company wanted you to receive. Second, it is difficult to measure how effective your billboard really was in attracting consumers. People generally drive by billboards at a quick speed so companies really don't have much space or time to show you what their selling. So why spend the money on billboards? What do you guys think about billboard advertising and do you think they are still effective?

I agree and think billboards aren't effective. The only time I have ever payed any attention to billboards or looked at them is when I've gone on road trips and am looking to see where the next best place to stop is. But really billboards aren't the first place I check. Usually the little signs that show what gas stations, food, and hotels are at each exit is where I look. Most billboards are on highways where people are driving fast and all the information they should provide is what business they are and which exit their located. Yet this is already provide in the other signs...I think it's probably expensive and ineffective to just give travelers a second "heads up".
ReplyDeleteBillboards are a blast from the past. If you ever go up to Vermont, you will notice in that state their is no billboard signs, society up there sees billboards signs as tacky. As you cross into the New Hampshire border you notice the billboard signs. I agree the signs are not effective, I mean for the most part when I drive I don't pay attention to these signs
